LR2, Range Rover Evoque Vehicles Affected by Jaguar Recall

Post On 08-14-2014

The latest reports indicating that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is not responding to petitions filed by drivers quickly enough have pushed several car safety advocacy groups to pressure the safety regulators to act on the many petitions still left unanswered, especially after the General Motors recall was linked to several reports registered with the NHTSA that never led to an official probe.

It’s important that car owners continue to pressure the NHTSA and the automakers when they experience incidents or equipment failure, but it’s also important that consumers respond to recall announcements promptly when they are urged to in order to avoid accidents. Too often, recalled vehicle owners fail to respond quickly, which puts them in danger.

According to a recent recall announcement, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC has recalled all units of the 2010 through 2015 LR2 and 2012 and 2013 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. The affected models come with a component that is found inside the Occupant Classification System Electronic Control Unit that could fail while in use. That could eventually cause the front seat passenger air bag to fail to deploy in the event of a collision, which will cause the passenger to be exposed to an injury risk.

The report published by the NHTSA shows that the front seat passenger may be injured if the air bags do not deploy in a crash. It’s essential for affected vehicle owners to respond to this recall announcement promptly. According to Land Rover, owners will be notified in the near future. Dealers will have all affected vehicles inspected for free. The Restraint Control Module software present in these vehicles will be updated for free. The official recall campaign should begin after August 30th, Land Rover has announced.

Whether you’re a vehicle owner or a driver who has to sit behind the wheel of a vehicle frequently, make sure to never ignore a recall that affects a vehicle that could put your life or the lives of your loved ones at risk.
