According to a series of news agencies, certain Aquababy bath ring seats are being recalled over an issue that could render the device insufficiently stable, increasing the risk of a drowning incident.
The reports show that at least 7,500 units of these devices are affected by the recall. Since the bath seats could tip over while in use, parents are urged to stop using the seats and contact the company in order to obtain information on how to return the device to the manufacturer for a full refund.
The defective devices come in either pink or blue and carry the words “Thermobaby Z.I. De Kerbois” engraved to the bottom of the bath seats. The firm has stated that none of these devices were linked to incidents up to this moment. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has stated that the devices could pose a serious risk to users due to the fact these devices do not comply with certain federal standards. If the seat tips over while in use, the baby could drown.
Amazon sold the devices exclusively between June 2012 through January 2013. If you believe you were affected, contact the manufacturer or click here to read the official recall statement published by the CPSC.
