Decline Free Weight Benches Recalled, CPSC Announces

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has indicated that multiple free weight benches are being recalled after the manufacturer learned that the frame of these benches may collapse unexpectedly onto the user, which would eventually increase the possible risk of an injury.

The reports show that the the frames could collapse unexpectedly while the device is being used. The official recall of the Olympic Decline free weight bench was primarily published by the CPSC. At least 234 units of these products were affected by the recall.

The devices can be identified by the model numbers 16060, 16061 and 16062. These items were sold to professional gyms and come with manufacture dates that range between December 2008 and September 2013. Cybex International has announced that at least nine reports concerning incidents linked to the product were registered. None of the incidents resulted in any injuries.

The items were sold by Cybex between 2008 and September 2013.
