Machetes Recalled by Gerber, CPSC Reports

Post On 06-07-2013

Multiple news organizations have been reporting that over 80,000 units of machetes with stitched sheaths are being recalled over a possible laceration risk.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Gerber Legendary Blades decided to issue this recall after the firm noticed that the Parang machete could cut through the stitching of the sheaths if the user replaced or removed the blade in the sheath. The company is aware of at least eight reports of the blades causing lacerations to the hands of several users.

Affected consumers should stop using the blades and contact Gerber for a replacement product.
